Someone to Run Beside

"The better part of one's life consists of his friendships."
- Abraham Lincoln
My Soul Sista and I headed out for a long overdue date. A time to catch up, share from the heart, laugh, almost cry, laugh some more, and wish time would stand still so we didn't have to call it a night. Nine years of friendship under our belt...and a lifetime to go!
In Mothers Fellowship, the last chapter of our current book is entitled, "Someone to Run Beside." The author goes on to describe this type of friendship with these words: “To run beside someone of like heart and stride keeps you well-paced and focused…they share passion to know God intimately and pursue Him with intentional living and purpose; they cause you to pick up your spiritual pace, inspire you, add to your energy, challenge you to change and grow, settle your heart and bring real peace into your life; they are soul mates, sent by God to help you look more like Him and less like you.”
I so hope you have a "someone" like this...if not, make that one of your heartfelt prayers. For nothing has blessed my life the way that my "someones" have. As the Word states, "iron sharpens iron". I would not be who I am today without the presence, love, accountability and devotion of my "someones".
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 (NIV)
9 Two are better than one,
because they have a good return for their labor:
10 If either of them falls down,
one can help the other up.
But pity anyone who falls
and has no one to help them up.
11 Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm.
But how can one keep warm alone?
12 Though one may be overpowered,
two can defend themselves.
A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

Owen's All Star Football Party

Tuesday, October 26th, 2010
My baby boy turned 4
We had a small, family celebration that evening
As I always say...I LOVE that face!
Wonder what he wished for??
To beat his big brother in a game, to win the Heisman Trophy one day, to meet Diego in person, hmmm....
Saturday, October 30th
@~*ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?*~@
I love to go with a theme for my kiddo's birthdays...this year, it was a little challenging. There are so many things that Owen loves, and there were several ideas he kept throwing out.
But, after I decided it would be a little tricky to throw a "Motorcycle" b'day, we went with football - one of his other loves. :)
It took about...oh, one milisecond for all the boys to warm out and start in on an intense game of football in our backyard!
The inflatable ball & goal that we bought for his b'day definitely came in handy!
I was so grateful to have an 11 yr old son who got out there and led the little guys...he was so great! And, oh how the boys looked up to him!
The Cheerleaders preferred the swingset & craft route...
One of the cutest parts of the party was how Owen would come running up to the patio, huffing and puffing, to get a big swig of his Gatorade...he'd mumble a few things about the game, and then sprint back to the "field"
Ella Bella...just a swingin'
(after eating about 5 gallons of the "Chicago Mix" popcorn we served)
There one was Dog Pile
after another...
It was such a warm feeling to see all the good ol' fashioned fun going on
And what a GORGEOUS day it was!!
(So thankful to God for that Blessing)
Our adorable nephew, Jaxen, was quite the Running Back!
